Iraq Rethinks Russian Arms Deal

CAIRO — A spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki announced the suspension Saturday of a $4.2 billion arms deal between Baghdad and Moscow.

In Iraq, auditors believe as much as $800 million in US dollars is being transferred out of the country illegally each week, draining it of hard currency, according to a report by American inspectors released Tuesday.

the IMF renewed its call on Iraq to cancel the support of oil and energy derivatives as well as the ration cards.

Dear Friends, The city-wide electrical grid went down here in Najaf this morning during breakfast. This is not such a big deal as it is daytime and the sun is up.
